Per Marion, the birth certificate wrongly says 1941 (so many records reflect that), but the real birth was 1940.

A Margaret Taylor exists for about the same birth year from Addington and Lennox Ontario. The birth record is available on Ancestry.com's nternational service.
I found a National Guard card for John F Holmes born 30 June 1911 in NY, enlisting Oct 29 1940. Might be the same or different.
The 1915 census records give middle initial J, not F. This is the only example so is probably an error.
