Home > HTML > Basics of HTML > Named Colors

Below are examples of named colors, listed in the order of their RGB numbers. All leading browsers will recognize these by both name and RBG number. However, two different browsers may not render a particular color identically. (If you view this page in different browsers, you will be able to see how each renders it.) Many feel that it is better HTML coding style to use RGB colors consistently. On the other hand, you may find that there are certain colors you use frequently that you can remember better by a name than by their RGB designations.

Generally, black is the best background for seeing an array of colors. However, this isn't always true, nor equally true for all people's eyes. Click here to see this page redisplayed with a black background.
